Subjectively, I found the GP500 to have very accurate grayscale OOTB. I measured an DeltaE of just 2.3 which is lower than what's visible to the human eye, but quite good. The Dynamic Contrast feature really added depth to the few night scenes in Life of Pi and the colors on display were excellent as well. Avatar was also very impressive.
